Over the past three decades the Considerate Constructors Scheme has promoted and supported improvement in the way construction activity impacts the community, the environment and its workforce.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme has been supporting and driving positive change in the construction industry for the past three decades. We believe the industry must be underpinned by high standards, external accountability and public trust for the benefit of all.

We have a Code of Considerate Practice which helps drive better conduct and higher standards across construction activities. The Code describes how construction teams which register their construction activity with us can operate more responsibly and respectfully. Using our practical and attainable guidelines, those running a construction site can make informed choices that help improve their standards and lessen their overall impact on the communities around them.

The Code Of Considerate Practice

The Code of Considerate Practice embodies the high standards the industry can and should achieve. The clear, attainable guidelines in the Code exist to help constructors make positive changes to the way they work and to operate more responsibly and respectfully.

Organisations, contractors, and suppliers who register with the Scheme are committing to observe and implement the Code. It focuses on three key sections: respecting the community, caring for the environment, and valuing the workforce — essential and key areas required to effectively raise standards within the industry and build trust with the public.

The Code applies equally to all activities registered with the Scheme regardless of size, type, or location.
