Buckhurst Plant Hire was founded in 1993 by the Walsh family and has grown into a nationwide operation with five depots, from Aberdeen in the north to Wellingborough in the midlands, and more than 3,000 pieces of machinery.
It is continuing to expand its fleet to meet increased demand in sectors including renewable energy, overhead power and the water industry.
With its latest investment, Buckhurst now has more than 1,200 excavators, mostly Takeuchi models.
Latest Takeuchi additions include 100 excavators weighing in from one to 15 tonnes including:

- 10 x TB210R
- 20 x TB325R
- 15 x TB230
- 30 x TB260
- 20 x TB290-2
- 15 x TB2150R.
It also has 10 of the new TCR50-3 tracked dumpers.
Chairman John Walsh says: “Throughout 2026 we are going to be investing in our fleet, and these Takeuchi machines are a significant part of that. Our customers continually praise the Takeuchi excavators for their reliability and usability so adding more to our fleet was an easy decision to make. The TCR50-3 tracked dumpers also offer great functionality for our customers and we’re sure they will be a very popular hire at sites from our depots across the UK.”
Buckhurst is a supporter of Andy’s Man Club, a suicide prevention charity that seeks to get men talking to improve their mental well-being. The new machines have Andy’s Man Club branding on them to raise awareness.
Walsh explains: “Our machines are seen on roads and sites across the UK, and it just might be a prompt to help someone make a change. In the male-dominated construction and plant hire sector this campaign is needed more than ever, and we are happy to promote Andys Man Club across our fleet.”
