Yanmar has selected a company new to earthmoving machinery to represent it across Dorset and West Sussex.
Locators is primarily an industrial forklift truck dealer, although its product range also include Manitou telehandlers. The Yanmar agreement marks its entry into the compact excavator market.
Founded in 1985, Locators has around 75 employees, including more than 20 service engineers and technical support staff, and supports customers across southern England from its main depot in Wimborne, Dorset and regional service depot in Thatcham, Berkshire.
鈥淲e鈥檇 been looking to add another high-quality product to our construction portfolio for some time,鈥 said Locators sales director Nick Hitchcock. 鈥淲hat appeals to us about Yanmar is the quality of the machines; we have built much of our business around supplying and supporting Japanese equipment.聽 It gives us a great opportunity to reach new customers while complementing the telehandler construction equipment we already supply.鈥
Locators has placed an initial order for a range of Yanmar machines including the SV08-1C and SV17 conventional tail mini excavators, the ViO17 and ViO80-1 zero tail swing mini excavators, and the C08 tracked carrier, with the first ViO23 already sold.
鈥淭he construction market is very hands-on,鈥 Hitchcock added. 鈥淐ustomers want to see the machines working and understand how they perform on site, so our focus will be on getting out to meet people, demonstrating the equipment and building relationships.鈥
