Willmott Dixon wins Horsham theatre refurb

6 Feb Horsham District Council has appointed Willmott Dixon Interiors to lead a £10m refurbishment of its Capitol theatre.

Willmott Dixon Interiors has begun work on the first refurbishment of Horsham鈥檚 theatre, The Capitol, since 2002.

Improvements are promised across the theatre, cinema screens, auditorium, toilets, bar areas and box office. Seating will be upgraded, while new lay-outs will improve viewing positions for disabled visitors.

The scope includes mechanical, electrical and plumbing works to support the new design and decorative works to improve the appearance of front of house areas and the building鈥檚 external fa莽ade.

The theatre is scheduled to re-open in late 2026 鈥 just in time for its annual pantomime.

Adam Worrall, managing director of Willmott Dixon Interiors, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e pleased to be working with Horsham District Council on a project that will significantly enhance a much-loved public asset. The refurbishment will deliver a more attractive, welcoming and accessible space, while supporting environmental sustainability and providing long-term value for the local community.鈥

Willmott Dixon Interiors鈥 recent track record includes the restoration of the former Granada cinema in east London, Brent Civic Centre in Wembley Park and The Amelia Scott cultural and learning centre in Kent.
