Willmott Dixon ready for Eastney leisure centre

4 hours Three months after the whole project was meant to be completed, Willmott Dixon finally gets to start enabling works next month on Portsmouth’s new Bransbury Park leisure centre.

Clearance work is completed, enabling works can now begin

When Portsmouth City Council named Willmott Dixon as its preferred contractor for the £22m Bransbury Park leisure centre project in Eastney, the plan was to start main construction in August 2024 and be finished by January 2026.

Now, however, the new centre at Bransbury Park is due to open in winter 2027.

With clearance work at the site having been completed, it has been confirmed that Willmott Dixon will start enabling works on site on 13th April 2026..

Bransbury Park Leisure Centre will include a general practice medical facility as well as a sports centre with swimming pool. It will have a 25-metre four‑lane pool, a learner pool, a 65‑station gym and two exercise studios, as well as healthcare facilities. An improved artificial turf pitch and multi‑use games area will also be created at the north of the site, with free public access and floodlighting.

Richard Poulter, managing director for Willmott Dixon’s south region, said: “We are extremely excited to be starting work on delivering this activity hub for Bransbury.  Having delivered a number of successful leisure centres across the country, we are keen to bring our expertise to this project, delivering a modern building that will enhance the lives of the local community.”

Willmott Dixon was selected via the Southern ԭ Framework.
