Approximately 70,000 sq ft of existing college buildings are to be pulled down at the St Marys Gate campus in Rochdale, to be replaced by a new four-storey block spanning 75,000 sq ft.聽
The new facility brings higher education provision to Rochdale for the first time alongside further education.
Willmott Dixon was awarded the 拢39m main contract through the Department for Education鈥檚 construction framework. Work is expected to commence imminently, with the new Hopwood Hall College facility scheduled for completion towards the end of 2028.
The new building will incorporate photovoltaics, air source heat pumps and a hybrid ventilation strategy to harness renewable energy and offset energy used on site.
