Wates handed £76m court repairs work

2 Jun 25 The Ministry of Justice has awarded Wates ÂÜÀòÔ´´ a pair of contracts to fix court buildings in the north of England.

Wates ÂÜÀòÔ´´ has been given a £47.3m contract to replace the heating and pipework system at Sheffield Magistrates' Court, which has twice been forced to close because of burst pipes in recent years.

In both March 2022 and January 2024 Sheffield Magistrates' Court became flooded because of burst pipe incidents. The heating system is also ropey, prompting occasional closures.

Wates has also been handed a £28.8m contract to replace the roof of Leyland Family Hearing Court in Lancashire.

Both contracts were awarded through a call-off from a Ministry of Justice framework agreement.
