A statement by parent company Pennon Group this morning said that Viridor has 鈥渄ecided in principle to proceed with the financing, construction and operation of a 350,000 tonne energy from waste plant in Cardiff.聽 The new project will provide a robust and deliverable bid for Prosiect Gwrydd (Project Green), a South Wales local authority consortium residual waste procurement.鈥�
Despite local objections, Cardiff council approved the plan in June 2010 and the Environment Agency granted the final permit required in November.
