30 Mar 12 Contractors Vinci and McAlpine have begun construction on a £10m mental health centre in Manchester.

IHP, a joint venture between Vinci ԭ UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, is building the new facility at Greater Manchester West (GMW) Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Prestwich site.

The new two storey Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) in-patient facility includes 20 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a separate area for patients’ therapy, assessments, support and consultations.

A turf-cutting ceremony was held to mark the official start of work. Vinci regional director Mark Thomas said: “The ceremony marks the start of a new mental health development that will offer young people and their families a facility that delivers highly specialist services in a well-equipped and therapeutic environment.  The new build will be a huge boost for GMW and enable the trust to successfully achieve their objectives.”
