Trant joins substation framework

7 hours Trant Engineering has secured a position on National Grid’s new dynamic market framework for major civil engineering works at substations across the UK.

The framework forms part of National Grid鈥檚 wider strategy to streamline procurement and accelerate the delivery of essential grid infrastructure.

In total, 13 contractors have been selected to deliver substation construction and upgrade works, with Trant among just nine appointed nationally to the Major Civils workstream. This package covers substantial construction projects valued at over 拢5 million and includes tier-one contractors such as BAM Nuttall, Costain, Galliford Try, Laing O鈥橰ourke and Skanska.

Southampton-based Trant鈥檚 inclusion reflects its established track record in delivering complex civil engineering projects within live, highly regulated substation environments. The company has developed a long-standing relationship with National Grid, underpinned by consistent performance in safety, technical delivery and collaborative project execution on critical national infrastructure schemes.

Alistair Parker, energy director at Trant Engineering, commented, "This important appointment recognises the strength of our long-standing relationship with National Grid and reflects our teams鈥 commitment to maintaining the highest standards of assurance, collaboration and delivery.

"Our experience in live substation environments, combined with our deep understanding of the technical and operational challenges involved, means we鈥檙e well placed to support National Grid鈥檚 critical infrastructure investment programme. The framework aligns with our strategic focus on delivering projects that strengthen energy resilience and support the UK鈥檚 transition to a low-carbon future.鈥
