Strike pays off for Crane BS&U workers

3 hours Members of the GMB at Crane BS&U have voted to accept a 6% pay rise from the US-owned firm, after two weeks of strike actions.

Management at the firm, part of Crane Co's process flow technologies division, had initially offered a pay rise of 3%, prompting the second strike in two years at the Hitchin business.

Andre Marques, GMB regional officer, said, “This is a fantastic result and a testament to what can be achieved when workers stand united.

"From the outset, members demonstrated resilience and solidarity, and this has led directly to a much-improved pay offer. Every member involved should be proud of the role they have played in reaching this agreement.”
