Olympian Homes secured Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator last month for its Haymarket development in Bristol.

Bristol City Council granted Olympian Homes permission in 2024 to demolish and replace the Premier Inn on the Haymarket and the NCP car park in Rupert Street.

The development, designed by Hodder & Partners, comprises of 442 student bedsits and 150 co-living units in two tower blocks. The towers stand 28 and 18 storeys high and have a grow internal area (GIA) of 21,061 sqm (226,698 sq ft).

Both buildings include communal roof terraces, lounges, gyms, cinema rooms and co-working space. Improvements will also be made to the surrounding area with the addition of 2,150 sq m of public realm space. This will include a kiosk, a public café and a new park and plaza connecting through to St James’ Park.

Contractor RG Group is now starting work and is scheduled to complete in mid-2028.

The Manchester scheme, a 488-unite BTR development across two towers, achieved practical completion at the end of last month.

Next up for RG is Olympian’s co-living scheme at 56 Marsh Wall in London’s Canary Wharf district, which secured Gateway 2 permission last month. This scheme of 46 storeys and 833 studios, is described as the flagship of Olympian’s Vivus Living brand.

Demolition will start on 1st Apri and Savills has been appointed as agents to seek equity partners for the scheme.
