The report gives support to three pumped hydro projects: Loch Kemp Storage, Coire Glas, and Earba, in North Scotland, storing 660, 1,440 and 1,800 MW of electricity respectively.
In North East England, OFGEM gave its blessing to TeesCAES, a compressed air energy storage system storing 50 MW. In Wales, Frontier Legacy, a vanadium flow/zinc battery system storing 65 MW of power.
The rest of the list was made up of lithium ion battery storage, storing between 100 and 500MW of power, with most targeting around 400 MW. These comprise Field Netherton, Field New Deer, Field Rigifa, and Field Fyrish in Northern Scotland; and, in England, Field Long Stratton, East Claydon Storage, Ocker Hill BESS, Sundon Storage, Drakelow (Innova), Springwell, and Thornton BESS 2.
OFGEM has shared a detailed of its decision. The consultation opened on 26 June, with responses due to by 7 August, and a final decision expected in the autumn.
