The move comes as the French electricity company seeks to build on the construction of Hinkley Point in a replicable way at Sizewell: a key aim for the nuclear sector now is to move from one-off engineering of each site, to a more repeatable process.
The framework聽ensures聽AtkinsR茅alis聽will continue to support EDF聽as a trusted delivery partner, the engineering firm says, during a vital聽transition period as聽some of its聽existing plants聽enter vital life extension programs, others聽shift towards the end of operational life,聽and聽as聽Hinkley聽Point聽C聽prepares for operations as the UK鈥檚 first large-scale reactor for a generation.聽
The inclusion of Sizewell C will also help to聽realise聽the full聽benefits of replication as the聽AtkinsR茅alis聽team applies the knowledge and experience from Hinkley Point C to the new build program as it enters聽construction聽phase.
Under the new聽professional services framework,聽AtkinsR茅alis聽will support EDF Nuclear Services, EDF Nuclear Operations,聽Hinkley Point C聽and Sizewell C聽across more than 60 different technical and project delivery disciplines, from design and engineering to program management and consultancy.聽
