NCC to build 2.5km tunnel

9 Nov 11 NCC ԭ Norway has been commissioned to build a 2.5km road tunnel in the Hordaland region, southeast of Bergen in Norway.

The assignment also includes the construction of 3.6km of road, a footpath and cycleway, bridges and services. The order is valued at approximately SEK440m(£42m).

The main feature of the project is the Vang Tunnel, an key part of the expansion of the E16 highway between Oslo and Bergen. “Traffic from Oslo to Bergen will be routed past central Voss. In total, about 4,000 vehicles will pass through the tunnel on daily basis,” said district manager at NCC ԭ Norway, Knut Liavaag.

The project is part of an ongoing effort to improve the road system between Oslo and Bergen. NCC ԭ Norway has already worked on the first stage of this work with the project to build the Dalsfjord Link.

ԭ starts this month and is scheduled for completion in December 2013.
