The aim of the project is to reduce congestion in the city of Czestochowa by diverting traffic onto the newly constructed 25km motorway. Four junctions and accompanying structures - 聽including four bridges, nine road overpasses and 15 viaducts - will also be built as part of the scheme.
Mott MacDonald will verify design documentation and provide construction supervision services. The consultancy will then monitor operations for a 15-month period.
Malgorzata Piatek, Mott MacDonald鈥檚 project director, said: 鈥淭he newly constructed section of the motorway runs through Natura 2000, a network of nature protection areas in the territory of the EU. Two environmental experts have been employed to fully control and minimise the impact of potential environmental risks.鈥�
The scheme is being co-financed by the country鈥檚 General Directorate for National Roads & Motorways and the European Union (EU).
Construction of the A1 is due to be completed early 2019.
