Morgan Sindall ԭ has started work on site for The Highland Council on building a new £21m primary school.
Broadford Primary School in the Isle of Skye has been designed to Passivhaus classic standard, for optimum energy efficiency.
The development will include a new primary school with nursery section, a gym hall, public library and council service point, creating facilities for the local community and not just a school. There will also be an all-weather, floodlit sports pitch.
Construction is scheduled to complete by summer 2027.
Cllr John Finlayson, chair of Highland Council’s education committee, said at the ground breaking ceremony: “Today is a momentous day as we welcome the start of construction on a brand-new school in Broadford. It has taken a huge deal of energy, commitment and vision to get us to this stage, but the end result will be first class facilities for the school and wider community.”
