Kier ԭ has been appointed by Essex County Council under a pre-construction services agreement to build a new school near Rayleigh for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The school will serve Wolsey Park, a new development on the western fringe of the market town of Rayleigh in Essex, being put up by Countryside, now part of Vistry.

The all-through school will see Key Stages 1 and 2 based at Wolsey Park while Key Stages 3 and 4 will be at the former site of Chetwood Primary School in South Woodham Ferrers. The school will provide 150 places in the Wolsey Park development and 102 places at the former site of Chetwood Primary School.

Kier ԭ Eastern and Midlands managing director Cheryl Ward said: “This is an important project that we are proud to be a part of. We have a long track record of delivering high quality SEND schools, creating learning environments designed to support young people with a wide range of needs.

“Truly inclusive learning spaces can transform outcomes for children, families and the carers who support them. It means a lot to our brilliant team and supply chain to build this school which will benefit their local communities.”
