5 days Kier, reporting adjusted revenues up 7.5% in its full year to 30 June, at £4,393m from £4,087.8m, and adjusted profit before tax up 8.8% at £136.4m, has set a new target of double digit growth in earning per share.

The contractor had a record order book of 拢11.9bn at the year end. Average month end net cash was 拢10.7m, from a debt of 拢49.2m last year, marking the first time in a decade it had achieved a positive monthly cash position. The company set a second target here, aiming for an average net cash position of over 拢200m by 2029.

The group currently operates on more than 120 frameworks, across diverse sectors. It expects water, energy, defence and healthcare to contribute significant revenue growth over the next three years.

Chief executive Stuart Togwell was pleased, saying, "We聽continued to strengthen the聽group鈥檚 financial profile, reaching an average聽net cash position for the聽first time聽in over a decade, a significant milestone聽to build upon. In my first year as CEO, we聽have聽also made聽important operational and structural changes, strengthening the depth of the聽executive聽team and further aligning the聽group to the聽significant growth opportunities ahead."
