Interserve starts Durham research centre

9 Jun 15 Interserve ÂÜÀòÔ­´´ starts work this month on a £10.7m contract to build a new physics research centre for Durham University.

The new Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics will be built next to the university’s Department of Physics and will house the Institute for Computational Cosmology (ICC) and the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP).

The 2,300m2 building has been designed by US architect Studio Daniel Libeskind

Construction is expected to be completed by autumn 2016.

Overall project value is £11.5m. The Ogden Trust has donated £3.35m towards the cost and the Wolfson Foundation £1.5m.
