The new deal was announced after a competitive tendering process, and covers carriageway resurfacing work. The company started working as the main surfacing contractor for the council in 2014, through Bam Nuttall, and directly for the council since 2019.
Brian Smith, senior highway maintenance and street lighting manager at Wirral Borough Council, said: “We are pleased to award our structural carriageway resurfacing contract to Heidelberg Materials. The company presented excellent quality statements which clearly demonstrated strong technical ability, value for money and a commitment to sustainability. “
Scott Cooper, contracting managing director at Heidelberg Materials Contracting, added: “This is fantastic news and will build on the successful relationship we have built with Wirral Borough Council over the last decade.” As part of the project, the company says it will be exploring the use of lower carbon asphalt solutions.
