And only 9% have any intention of still being in the same job at the end of next year, suggesting that HR managers are going to have a battle on their hands to retain staff.
CareerStructure.com surveyed more than 2,000 construction, engineering and built environment professionals and found that 47% of industry professionals wanted to leave their current employer this year.
58% thought they deserved a bigger salary and 60% were unhappy with their benefits package.
Building services was found to be the most miserable sector, with 21% of workers on 拢15,000 or less each year, compared to an industry average of 拢38,625.
Oil & gas is the best paid and has the happiest workforce, with 10% earning 拢100,000 or more, and 44% gaining a pay increase of 5% or more in the past year.
Location was another important factor on salary, with London found to be where professionals could earn the most, with 20% earning 拢50,000 or more. Working abroad was found to deliver even greater rewards, with 71% of those in North America taking home 拢50,000 or more.
