Geobear picks COO

1 hour Ground engineering specialist Geobear has appointed Rupert Lee as its new chief operating officer. Lee previously worked for McKinsey & Company, and more recently as a freelance consultant to private equity firms.

In his new role, Lee will oversee improvement initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, scalability, and customer experience. His appointment comes as Geobear says it is seeing increasing demand for its non-disruptive subsidence remediation solutions amid rapidly changing climate conditions.

Lee will focus on refining processes across the business, identifying both small- and large-scale innovations to help drive improvements. A key part of his remit will be delivering operational excellence across Geobear鈥檚 commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, from streamlining engineering design processes to developing smoother ways for technicians to deliver the company鈥檚 solution on site.

Before joining Geobear, Lee was a mechanical engineer in automotive, wave tech, and the oil and gas industries. He then built a career in operations management consultancy at McKinsey & Company, where he worked with both blue chip and scale-up clients across multiple industries and geographies, specialising in operational transformation programmes. Lee also led the UK operations excellence programme for junior consultants. More recently, he worked as a freelance consultant supporting private equity firms to improve the performance of portfolio businesses.
