Friendly builders get free lunch

28 Sep 15 Wates ԭ is going to extra lengths to minimise disruption to neighbours of one of its Nottingham building sites and it appears local residents are appreciating the efforts.

Wates is converting a disused factory on Dakeyne Street into offices and workshops under a £7.2m contract for Nottingham City Council.

In an effort to be neighbourly Wates has so far conducted site tours for residents, provided a complimentary window cleaning service for locals and arranged for regular road sweeping.

Local resident Mohamed Moween has been sufficiently impressed to make lunch for the site workers one day.

Wates ԭ Midlands business unit director Richard Scarrott said: “It makes me incredibly proud to see that the consideration and respect of our team is having such a powerful impact on residents. People can assume that construction work is messy and disruptive but our team at Dakeyne Street are a prime example that this can be avoided and the friendships that have grown with local residents are a great testament to that.”

The project is scheduled to complete in spring 2016.
