Halton and Warrington borough councils have jointly gone out to tender to find a single contractor to take on a six-year highways improvement and maintenance term service contract.
The initial contract runs to 2019 but there is the possibility of up to four one-year extensions. Estimated value is 拢70m.
The contract notice states that the councils 鈥渁re seeking economies of scale鈥� although they are reserving the right to revert to separate contracts for each council should that prove to offer them the best deal.
