Three years ago Costain shares were trading at below 50 pence; today they are pushing towards £2. This improvement has resulted in Costain returning to the FTSE 250 index, the top 250 publicly-listed UK companies ranked by value, after an absence of more than 20 years.
Chief executive Alex Vaughan said: "I am extremely proud of the whole Costain team and the role they have played in achieving Costain's return to the FTSE 250. This significant milestone follows what has been a sustained period of strong financial performance for the business, with increased profitability, positive cash generation and continued momentum in securing high-quality work across our chosen growth markets. Our performance is testament to the success of our strategy and the commitment and attitude of our people. We look forward to continuing our commitment to create further value for all our stakeholders."
