Beard gives away half of its profits

1 hour After a year of growth, the owners of Beard 萝莉原创 have chosen philanthropy over increased dividends.

Family-owned regional contractor Beard 萝莉原创 has shared details of its record trading period in the full year to 31st December 2025, with turnover rising by 16% to 拢230m, achieving profits of 拢9m, up from 拢5m the previous year.聽

The shareholders say that, rather than accepting increased dividend payments,聽they have decided to donate half of the year鈥檚 profit to Oxfordshire Community Foundation and Wiltshire & Swindon Community Foundation.

Beard鈥檚 strong performance in 2025 was underpinned by the completion of 62 projects from its offices in Bristol, Guildford, Oxford, Southampton and Swindon.

Projects completed in 2025 include:

  • the 拢7.5m Holland Cooper headquarters in Cheltenham
  • a 拢11.8m Porsche dealership for Dick Lovett in Bristol
  • Bristol Zoo鈥檚 拢9.6m African Forest 鈥 a new home for gorillas, crocodiles and mangabeys
  • a 拢7.1m VIP lounge for FlexJet at Farnborough Airport
  • a 拢5.1m renovation of Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth.

Additionally, during the year, Beard made progress with the creation of a 拢17m basement library for Hertford College, Oxford; started construction of the new visitor and learning centre at Stonehenge; and started the refurbishment of accommodation and communal areas at Kitchener Hall for the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, valued at 拢32m.

Finance director Fraser Johns said: 鈥淥ur ethos of prompt and faultless delivery, alongside a continued focus on getting the basics right have laid the foundations for the strongest three-year period in the company鈥檚 history.聽聽

鈥淒uring this time, we have expanded our presence across all regions, particularly in Southampton where our newest office opened in 2024. Our special projects division 鈥 comprising work up to 拢2m in value 鈥 continues to be a key contributor to our growth and success.

鈥淥ur pipeline of work is healthy, which stands us in good stead for the more competitive conditions we anticipate as we move further into 2026.

鈥淥ur ambitions for the year ahead remain strong with a continued focus on supporting our people, supply chain and customers, who are core to our continued success.鈥

In response to the firm鈥檚 success, 27 internal promotions were made during the year and employee numbers grew by 5% to 354. Of these, 38 鈥 11% 鈥 are apprentices, degree apprentices, trainees or students.
