Many product manufacturers rely on a BBA kitemark from the British Board of Agr茅ment to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards.
However, UKAS, the national accreditation body for the United Kingdom, which grants testing houses the authority to issue certificates of conformity, has put a spanner in the BBA works.
A statement on the BBA website reads: 鈥淥n 26th February 2026, we were notified that UKAS has instigated a temporary suspension of the BBA鈥檚 accreditation status, due to a change in corporate structure in 2025. This means that at present, we are unable to issue certificates under the accreditation status.鈥
It continues: 鈥淭he issues identified are administrative-only in nature, concerning company documentation and do not in any way relate to the organisation鈥檚 competency or ability to function as a certification body.
鈥淲ork continues as usual and that we do not anticipate this temporary suspension having an impact on the overall certification process.鈥
