Online supermarket Ocado is to build a 拢210m distribution centre in Warwickshire.

The retailer has exchanged contracts on the 14-hectare site at Dordon and wants construction work on the 350,000 sq ft facility to start immediately.

The centre is expected to be finished by the end of 2012.

Andrew Bracey, finance director of Ocado, said the Dordon hub would allow the retailer to grow 鈥渁t a greater pace in Manchester and Leeds and go north into Tyneside and Durham鈥.

Ocado bought the site for 拢17.7m and will pay 拢3.5m to supply utilities to the distribution centre.

The 拢210m capital cost of the scheme will be financed through the group鈥檚 existing banking facilities and its current reserves.
